Crested Butte Ski and Snowboard Club Announces Formation

CRESTED BUTTE, COLORADO — October 30, 2026 — The Crested Butte Ski and Snowboard

Club is excited to announce its formation, establishing a new non-profit organization

dedicated to supporting the continued growth, development, and successes of

competitive youth skiing and snowboarding in Crested Butte and throughout the

Gunnison Valley.

The Club is a natural extension of the passion, commitment, and energy that defines the

Crested Butte winter sports community—home to one of the largest, most dedicated,

and most well-respected mountain sports programs in North America.

The Club’s mission is to create a dedicated, purpose-driven environment where

young local athletes can develop their skills, challenge themselves through

competition, and foster confidence, discipline, and resilience that will serve them

both on and off the mountain. The Club is committed to expanding access to high-

quality training, investing in the development and retention of exceptional

coaches, and building a sustainable organization that creates diverse opportunities

for youth ski and snowboard athletes for years to come.

Rachael Miller will serve as President of the Crested Butte Ski and Snowboard

Club. “We are incredibly excited about the future of the Crested Butte Ski and Snowboard

Club and what this organization can bring to our community,” said Miller. “We have an

unparalleled foundation of athletes, coaches, families, and community support here in

Crested Butte. Our goal is to build on that success, create more opportunities for

athletes, and continue investing in the coaches who play such an important role in their

development.”

A Focus on Building the Club

While the Club’s long-term mission encompasses a broad range of winter sports and

competitive opportunities, its initial activities and initiatives will focus on non-snow

programming.

The Club is currently developing a variety of on and off-snow opportunities designed to

bring athletes together, support individual and team development, build community, and

help prepare them for the winter season both mentally and physically. Details about

these programs will be announced very soon.

“We want to use this initial period to build the organization thoughtfully and create

meaningful opportunities for athletes and families outside of the winter season,” said

Miller. “We hear the demands for more training and development initiatives from

athletes and coaches alike, and there is a lot of exciting work already underway. In the

weeks and months to come, we look forward to sharing more with the community as we

work to build our club together.”

In addition to the dryland initiatives, the Club also looks forward to working together with

Vail Resorts and Crested Butte Mountain Resort as the organization moves forward.

“We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate and partner with Vail and Crested

Butte Mountain Resort as we build toward the future,” said Miller. “These two highly

successful businesses bring significant resources and expertise to bear within our

mountain sports community. There is a lot more to come, and we’re looking forward to

sharing more about these partnerships in the months ahead.”

Supporting Athletes and Coaches

At the heart of the Club’s mission is a commitment to providing young local

athletes with opportunities to pursue their passion for winter sports.

The Club intends to offer a wide range of training and development opportunities for

athletes while also supporting advanced development for coaches. The organization

recognizes that great coaches are fundamental to athlete success and will work to

create an environment that recruits, empowers, advances, and retains exceptional

coaching talent that is one of the hallmarks of our ski and snowboard teams.

The Club’s goal is to provide athletes and coaches with opportunities to challenge

themselves and compete at all levels—from local to international—while recognizing

that healthy competition in all forms can engender a lifelong appreciation for the

rewards of hard work, perseverance, and shared success.

“Our athletes and coaches are incredible ambassadors for Crested Butte and our

community, both on and off the snow,” said Miller. “We want to expose them to diverse

challenges, teach them tools to succeed, and help them reach their potential as

they inspire the generations of future athletes to comes.”

A New Chapter for Crested Butte Winter Sports

The Crested Butte Ski and Snowboard Club is incorporated as a Colorado nonprofit

organization. The Club believes its formation represents an exciting new chapter for

youth sports in Crested Butte — one that builds on the community’s long history of

developing exceptional athletes, coaches and programs while creating opportunities for

continued growth. Programming announcements will be coming soon.

Families, athletes, coaches and community members are encouraged to stay tuned for

additional information about upcoming programs and opportunities to get involved.
